When I was looking for a cat to model my book cat, Pumpkin, from I looked no further than my own cat Morris.

The idea of the cat in Bess’s Magical Garden came from the time my oldest daughter adopted a grey long haired tabby our next door neighbor didn’t want. That cats name was Goofy because he did goofy things. They had been threatening to have him put down if we hadn’t taken him.

Some of the things the cat in the book does are what Morris himself does. Morris tries to be helpful when I am writing and often wants to be on my lap and will politely ask to come up onto the lap top when it is on my lap. This access is denied of course. I am the author of Bess's Magical Garden, a middle grade novel, The Mystery of the Hidden cabin which is the sequel to Bess's Magical Garden and picture book Gramma Mouse Tells a Story. I am the member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, Writers Guild of Alberta. My series The Ghostly Encounters and other short stories can be found on, listed in the short story section. I have been an avid reader since early childhood and has always been imaginative. It wasn't until my children were growing up that I started taking writing classes and put my creations onto paper. When I'm not writing I like to paint, draw, work in the garden and spend time with my pets and family.
